DECISION ARCHITECTURE

Postal Authority – Shared Services of Information Services
Participated in evaluating the Financial Management and Shared Services framework within the Information Technology Services group. Sub-projects were undertaken over a period of time to improve service operations.

 

Electricity Utility (NSW) - Shared Services
Managed the design and implementation of a Shared Services framework within the 15 support units, using the IT unit as a pilot.
This involved several projects which examined the commercial structure of the business and its competitiveness within the market place.

 

Financial Institution - Shared Services
Managed the review of the Shared Service framework established within the Information Technology department of the bank.
The key outcome of the project was the establishment of a proposed "road map" which addressed the deficiencies with the existing framework.

 

Government Department (WA) - Performance Measurement
Participated in reviewing the financial management reporting framework that existed for the department at an Executive and
Divisional level.

 

Pharmaceutical Company - Performance Measurement
Managed the implementation of a revised Board Reporting package. The package was been designed to increase the quality
and effectiveness of the information provided, while subsequently improving efficiency by reducing preparation time by 3 weeks.


Insurance - Performance Measurement
Developed a revised Executive and Board reporting package to improve the quality of the information presented and to reduce the effort associated with its preparation. The result has been a reporting package that provides less data but substantially more information, in a format that supports the decision making process of the Executive and Board. The package now forms the basis
for the development of a detailed Executive Information System for the entire group.

 

Government Central Agency (SA) - Performance Measurement
Defined how the performance of State Government corporations could be undertaken. Assisted them to develop the management information requirements and systems necessary for them to fulfil their obligations, by firstly identifying the key performance measures associated with each corporation, secondly designing the management reports and finally specifying the system requirements.

 

Government Department (SA) - Reengineering for Finance
Managed a review of the financial management and reporting processes, in order to determine the department’s requirements for an effective financial management framework.

 

Pharmaceuticals - Corporate Services Review
Assisted in the development of revised accounting policies and procedures required to assist in the merging of three entities into one. The policies and procedures were designed in accordance with leading business practices and accounting standards.

 

Government Department (ACT) - Performance Measurement
Assisted the Department to develop Performance Agreements for the Executive team that incorporates their objectives and accompanying performance measures.

 

Insurance Company - Corporate Services Allocation
Undertook a review of the method used to charge business units for the internal provision of Information Technology services and reviewed the method used to allocate Corporate Overheads to subsidiaries.

 

Dairy Producer - Performance Measurement
Assisted in the implementation of revised Board and Executive Reporting packages. The packages have been designed to increase the quality and effectiveness of the information provided, while subsequently improving the efficiency of producing the packages.
The reporting packages have been re-focused to such an extent, that they have been reduced from 120 pages to just 7.
The reports now clearly articulate the key pieces of information that both the Executive and Board need to be aware of.

 

Automotive Manufacturer - Performance Measurement
Assisted them to revise their current management reports and to recommend an appropriate basis upon which to apply costs for all of the product ranges. The assignment required the team to conduct an independent review of the existing reports and the cost allocation basis. In essence, the reports were reduced from 30 plus pages to 5 with the application of the recommended costing approach.

 

Insurance - Performance Measurement
Assisted them to develop the management reports to be used by the Executive Team of Retail operations. The assignments required the team to define the information requirements of each member of the executive and to determine the impact upon the information systems that are required to provide this information.

 

Government Department (NSW) - Performance Measurement
Undertook a review of their current Executive reporting and to identify how the report could be improved to satisfy best practice principles.

 

Financial Services - Performance Measurement
Assisted the bank to undertake a full revision of their Executive reporting, incorporating an education process to assist the Executive
in the use and functionality of the reports.

 

College - Corporate Services Review
Assisted the college in reviewing the finance function and made recommendations on how the function could be improved to provide improved service at a lower cost.

 

Resources – Planning & Budgeting
Assisted them in the review and development of a revised Planning, Budgeting and Reporting process. The revised process provided the foundation for the development of a detailed systems design to be incorporated within the implementation of their new financial systems (SAP).

 

Telecommunications (Malaysia) - Corporate Services Allocation
Conducted a review of the Shared Services framework and to develop a set of policies based upon best practice, recognising the need to provide the company with the benefits that they sought to obtain from this management tool.

 

Insurance – Planning & Budgeting
Assisted them in developing a revised budgeting process, recognising the benefits to be derived from a fully integrated financial system.

 

Government Central Agency (SA) - Performance Measurement
Assisted them to develop the management information requirements and systems necessary for them to fulfil their obligations, by firstly identifying the key performance measures associated with three enterprises, secondly designing the management reports and finally specifying the system requirements.

 

Health Provider - Performance Measurement
Assisted in the development of Executive financial management reporting and monitoring framework, given the adoption of a Funder Owner Purchaser and Provider service model.

 

Distributor - Shared Services
Assisted them in the review and development of a shared services facility, which will centralise the processing of all financially based transactions and create centres of excellence for Finance and Human Resources. The revised business processes provided the foundation for the development of a detailed systems design to be incorporated within the implementation of their new financial systems (Oracle).

Assisted them in the review and development of a revised Planning, Budgeting and Reporting process. The revised process provided the foundation for the development of a detailed systems design to be incorporated within the implementation of their new financial systems (SAP).

 

Government Central Agency (SA) - Corporate Services Practices
Assisted them in the development of a process by which the government agencies within SA could reengineer their respective financial management processes to comply with the Government's framework for sound financial management.

 

Government Central Agency (Commonwealth) - Corporate Services Costing
Assisted in the development of detailed costing models for service costing and contract management, incorporating some 25 budget agencies.

 

Resources – Planning & Budgeting
Assisted in the development of a revised Planning, Budgeting and Reporting (PBR) process which incorporates current best practices and is enabled by SAP and other leading systems.

 

Resources - Corporate and Support Costing
Assisted in the development of a costing and reporting methodology that had been developed based upon two pilot sites within the organisation and provided additional assistance in the rollout of the methodology to all sites.

 

Government Central Agency (SA) - Avoidable Costing
Assisted in the development of a methodology for the definition and application of avoidable based costing. The methodology has been ratified and training workshops are currently being developed.

 

Food Manufacturing - Corporate Restructuring
Assisted the company in undertaking a complete overhaul of the organisation, with operating practices to be fully reengineered, including those within the corporate support functions of Finance and Human Resources. The reengineering to date has incorporated significant changes for staff, for which change profiles have been developed and skill assessments prepared. The process will also incorporate a "customer care" shared service facility, utilising the latest in process and system "best practice" design.

 

Food Manufacturing - Customer Relationship Management
Assisted the company to undertake a complete review of their customer strategy, incorporating product rationalisation, customer rationalisation; customer service assessment and development of call centre operations.

 

Government Central Agency (SA) - Budget Development
Assisted the agency in managing the development of the SA state budget based upon an accrual accounting framework. 
This required the implementation of a program management framework, incorporating project management and quality assurance structures.

 

Grain Distributor - Shared Services
Managed the review of the Fee 4 Service for their virtual Shared Services framework established within the business operation divisions of the distributor. The key outcome of the project was the establishment of a proposed "road map" which addressed the deficiencies with the existing framework.

 

Telecommunications - Investor Relations
Assisted in developing a revised investor relations pack in order for the organisation to properly communicate the financial performance to the market analysis.  To support the creation and dissemination of the pack a database system was developed.

 

Government Department - Shared Services Review
Undertook a Whole of Government review of corporate services to assess the business case for implementing a Shared Services solution.  The review examined the different models of shared services and recommended a strategy for re-defining how corporate services could be delivered, in the context of how core services are delivered.

 

Government Department - Corporate Services Review
Undertook a review of all corporate services to assess how savings could be achieved, whilst enhancing the quality of the services provided.  The review compared the services to other State government departments, global government benchmarks and global corporate benchmarks.  The review identified a number of areas for short term improvement but it also outlined a need to assess the strategic direction of corporate services.

 

Water Utility - Business Sustainability Value Model
Developed a valued based model applying the principles of sustainability.  The model set out the value drivers across three dimensions; Environmental, Social and Financial.

 

Water Utility - Shared Services Model
Developed a new operating model for the shared services operation that set out the business objectives, operating principles and the operating characteristics of the shared services business.  A detailed implementation plan was also developed, with project charters developed for all the initiatives.

 

Services Organisation - Administrative Services Review
Undertook a review of the administration services provided in order to determine how the services could be improved from both
an efficiency and effectiveness perspective.

 

Services Organisation - Management Model
Undertook a review of the organisation's business to determine the type and number of businesses that it actually operated when considering the services delivered.  This information was used to develop the appropriate management model, in order to match administration to the management requirements.

 

Government Department - Shared Services Model
Developed a business model for the operations of a new shared services facility.  The model incorporated a blueprint that the client was able to migrate towards over a period of time.

 

Government Department - Regional Services Model
Developed a revised business model for the delivery of regional support services.  The recommended model identified both service improvements and efficiency gains by assessing various delivery models.

 

Aged Care Provider - Strategic Organisational Redesign
Developed a five year strategy, incorporating a detailed description of market opportunities and recommendations for how the organization needed to change to meet the challenges. The recommendations were supported by a comprehensive implementation plan.

 

Emergency Services - Financial Model
Developed a detailed financial model to reflect the business model for this organization.  The model has enabled the organization
to develop both budget and forecasts for multiple years.

 

Emergency Services - Market Review
Conducted a comprehensive review of the Emergency Management market to assess where this organization sat in terms of the market and where the opportunities for future directions existed.

 

Advertiser - Development of Govt. Channel Strategy
Developed a comprehensive strategy for determining how the government channel should be structured to "go-to-market".
This has incorporated an analysis of market segmentation, customer behaviour and alignment of products/services.

 

Advertiser - Assessment of New Market Entry
Assisted the organization to assess the value of entering a new market and what type of products/services could be provided to generate sufficient return.

 

Retail – Store Profitability Review
Conducted a review to ascertain which stores were creating value and what actions could be implemented to return stores to full profitability.

 

Public Hospital - Cost Management
Conducted a costing review, utilizing an advanced costing model based upon the application of both Engineering Simulation technology and Activity Based Costing.

 

University - Financial Management
Conducted a detailed assessment of the financial management practices for one of the universities major schools.  The analysis was used to ultimately develop a new financial model.

 

Financial Services - Customer Management
Assisted a bank to revamp its entire go-to-market operations for both its Retail and Business Banking services.  The project utilized
our Market & Margins methodology to redesign the delivery model so that it aligns with its market positioning.
